 |
|
It happens a lot in the HMI, and some people love it, while others don't.
A band is playing and one of the musicians sees a musician friend in the audience just chilling, or perhaps hanging by the stage...HOPING that he gets a call to get on that stage and jam.
A musician told me that he HATES when that happens because the fans are here to listen to the band play what is on the cd, so if they call up an artist who is NOT part of the group, THAT ARTIST messes up the FLOW/VIBE of the song on that stage.
There are musicians however who LIVE for that. Especially if you are not too well known and you are a musician who LOVES THE SPOTLIGHT. OU BEZWEN KLERE! It is basically like a Christmas gift for you if you are called up on stage to come and VINI KALE POSTE'W so that the ladies can see you, the video cameras and photographs can click away so that your face will be seen...just like these celebrities who show up at an event...JUST TO BE SEEN.
It has it's PROS and CONS actually
WHERE DO U STAND on the GETTING ON STAGE TO JAM PHENOMENON?

King Kino is the KING of this.
In fact, with all due respect to the King, without these JAMMING SESSIONS, dude would not be remembered by some party-goers.
Freestyling and crap.
I mean its the worse.
I think this practice should be BANNED.
P.S. Rockers, misye pa di anyen mal la. Tout moun konnin Kino fo nan sa. C'mon, an nou kite'l mache. _________________ "Mrs. Jones, we got a thing going on...." |

Depend de ki moun yo rele on Stage la... Contrary to what Celestin says, si nap pale de chanteur, you can't go wrong with Kino, Michael Benjamin and Michel Martelly.
Neg sa yo improvise sou stage la, et yo blend well ak flow Djazz la for the most part. _________________ _______________________________________

It has its pros and its cons I guess.
If a well known artist is around I suppose it is a sign of respect to invite them on stage for a little bit... one song perhaps.
But it shouldn't become the norm pou ninpot ti atis. Then it's not special anymore. _________________ A man who has taken possession of his own mind may take possession of anything else to which he is justly entitled_ Carnegie |

I understand and I do think that this practice should be banned...
But why the Kino example?...
I witnessed worse than Kino... _________________ "GOD MADE ME HAITIAN FOR A REASON"

I don't have a problem with that...It's a way to acknowledge the presence of the artist and show some respect to some extent since it is the norm in our business. It was nice during the polemic Tabou/Skah Shah when Shoubou invited Cubano for a jam to the delight of the fans....He called Cubano...FILOMA...and he said that only him should call Cubano "FILOMA"...
During that show...he invited Cubano to the stage....and that's the way it should be.....
I have some serious problem with the ones who walk up to the stage without ANY INVITATION whatsoever and INVADE the privacy of the band...by grabbing an instrument.....sa se mal eleve...yo rele sa.....
If you are friend of the artist...at least let him know to invite you on this or that song because you are comfortable in that particular song....If that artist STILL didn't call you while that song is playing...then you will know that you were NOT welcomed....
Some artists also like it when a friend take their instrument because that can give them the chance to use the bathroom and to get some refreshment as well...Sometimes they can even call on someone for that purpose...you never know... _________________ Did you read your "Konpa Encyclopedia" today... |

it's good when it's done right, having that person on stage sometime bring a whole new flavor to the band but if you jus going to hang and kale bel poster there is no need for you to be there.
@celestin by the way kino is one of the best at this atis la se son bay ti malice li kanpe nan moman an _________________ jou revolisyon konsyans sa yap resi we kisa nou ye |
