 |
|
The Konpa world woke up this morning to the news of the sudden death of Jean Alcindor one of the top keyboardists who left his mark in the Haitian music.
Jean was not ill, in fact Cubano told me that only a couple of days ago he was eating at Brasserie Creole with Alcindor who just came from an African tour with his Gospel band.
Jean was born in Port de Paix where he was the band leader of LA PERLE DES ANTILLES, that band had three singers and their names are CUBANO -SHOUBOU AND GUY JEAN....yes Cubano and Shoubou were part of the same band and Jean was their band leader. Jean Alcindor also taught Cubano Accordion lesson, and in the band La Perle des Antilles the guys used to call him ROBOT because Jean was a real tall man.
Jean's solo in the song "ZANMI" by Skah Shah in the album "MESSAGE" is one of the most memorable keyboard solos in a Konpa song and one of Cubano's favorites of all time.
Jean Alcindor also contributed in the following albums MARIA - THIS IS IT - AMERICA - FOPEVER and not to forget Cubano's album ESSENCE.
One of the albums of Mini All Stars LES 15 TITRES D'OR DE NEMOURS JEAN BAPTISTE he played next to the legendary Richard Duroseau. Let's note also that it was Richard who filled the vacancy left by Alcindor in Skah Shah.
Skah Shah fans all over the world will always remember the trio Jean Alcindor, Mario Mayala and Johnny Frantz Toussaint (Ti Frè) who made the chord line of Skah Shah one of the best of the late 70s and 80s.
Condolences to the Alcindor family, to all the fans of Skah Shah
Rest in Peace Jean Alcindor in particular to his sisters Maude, Rolande and Michèle. Condolences also to the musicians of Skah Shah to Shoubou and to Guy Jean who resides in Maryland and to the fans of Jean Alcindor around the globe.Jean Alcindor, your work and your contribution to Konpa will not be forgotten..... _________________ Did you read your "Konpa Encyclopedia" today... |

My condolences to the Alcindor family!
But I think Jean Alcindor was more of a pianist than a keyboard player. _________________ If there is one thing we know how to do it is MUSIC.

Konpekok,
In music the reference keyboard is for any piano like instrument with a set or row of keys...just like we use horn player for people playing trumpet -trombone -saxophone etc....
[color=blue]key·board
/ˈkiˌbɔrd, -ˌboʊrd/ Show Spelled[kee-bawrd, -bohrd] Show IPA
–noun
1.
the row or set of keys on a piano, organ, or the like.
2.
a set of keys, usually arranged in tiers, for operating a typewriter, typesetting machine, computer terminal, or the like.
3.
any of various musical instruments played by means of a pianolike keyboard, as a piano, electric piano, or organ.
