Mike...Not to take anything away from Shedly we all know that he is one of the best drummers in today's konpa world...but I'm still looking for someone who can do solo drums better than Almando Keslin....
Shedly makes a lot of noise but it lacks cohesion...it was too much of a Tohu wa bohu in this solo that you posted....To me it's not all about hitting the drums BOUM BOUM BOUM...if you notice his performance on the snare...while the beauty of a solo drums is to be able to GO DOWN TO THE SNARE and come back up to the rest of the set.....including the way you manage the cymbals (Hi hat, Crash and Ride).....
Too bad I can't post the Almando solo and the wonders that he did at the carnival parade in 1985 here on KM due to the board rules on some you tube links...but I will invite you go to you tube and run a search on: LES FRERES DEJEAN @ HAITIAN CARNIVAL 1985.... and please make sure that Shedly take a look as well....and in all honesty...please tell me what you see.......
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN I'M TALKING ABOUT A MAN ON A FLOAT KAP SOUKE PORT-AU-PRINCE.....Today's drummers no longer play on the floats it's too challenging to them.....
but to those of you who will take the time to check it out, you will see that at some point it feels like Almando has more than 10 hands.....Impossible mezanmi....especially when he goes down to the snare drum..... _________________ Did you read your "Konpa Encyclopedia" today... |

Guys
Honestly, seriously and really... What's THAT impressive here?
Ahhh c'mon...
It was simply 2 minutes of boum boum boum kich kich kich kach kach boum! As simple as that.
I know that Shedly is a great and talented drummer and one of the best in this generation.
Men mezanmi, an nou serieu, sa pat anyen pou fè voye monte la. _________________ Yo di djaz sa frekan... Se pa fòt nou. Nou just RESAN! |

Almando is the reason why I pick the drums as a little. I first heard one of his famous solos when I was 7 while a former freres des jean sax player was playing to one of the songs. This guy is still the best haitian drum player I've ever heard. This guy foot speed is just out of this world. Richie is the only guy that remind me of him a little with the pedals. _________________ THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OPINION AND FACTS. |

Every now and then I listen to some old Freres Dejean lives and I'm just in aww; they were just something else. Personally, I think Les Freres Dejean is THE GREATEST COMPAS BAND ever.
Staff, I went on youtube to watch a clip of Almando in the 85 Carnaval, big difference between Shedly's solo and Almando's. He was just something else.
Anyways, this post is about Shedly so nap kite'l konsa. |

WOW, this is GREAT, thanks for sharing Micky.
I think it's about time people starts to appreciate Red Apples FOR red Apples, and Green Ones FOR Green Ones. They're BOTH GREAT INTHEIR OWN WAY...
Konpa Dejean an PA menm avek Konpa Carimi, NOU MENM fanatik Dejean yo, nou dako 100% ke yo te pi bon, fanatik Carimi may feel the same way about Shedley yon vye neg Okap. Yonn pa PI BON pase lot la... IN MY OPINION...
