|
|
The news of the death of Rodrigue Toussaint the superstar guitarist of Bossa Combo is the subject of the Konpa shows since this afternoon in Haiti.
Rodrigue died in his residence in Mahotière a suburb of Port-Au-Prince (Carrefour). His house suffered some serious damages during the earthquake and the artist in his last days was very sad for what happened to his country.
Rodrigue lived for sometimes in N.Y and he returned to Haiti where he taught music and made some musical arrangements for several artists.

Rodrigue Toussaint was also One of my favorites. I listened and learned a lot about his Style. He had a BB King kind of Sound, laced with some very Smooth Flavoring. A very Original sound for KONPA way before everyone started sounding like each other. Rodrigue Toussaint sounded different from all these other Legends like:Ti plume, Ti Polis, Reginald, Edward Richard, Robert Martino, Claude marcelin, Eddy Wooley, Dadou Pasquet., just to name a FEW..(These Cats are some my Unforgetable Guitar Legends).
Rodrigue Toussaint, may the LORD welcome you HOME and you'll not be FORGOTTEN.
Thanks for the Memories
