With the title "WELCOME TO HAITI", T-VICE is about to unleash their new musical creations on the market. A few days before the tracks are unleashed, KOMPA MAGAZINE spoke to vocalist ROBERTO MARTINO about the upcoming CD. Check it out.

1) Do you expect WELCOME TO HAITI to top the success of KITEM VIV? Why or why not?

ROBERTO: Only time will tell..W2H has all the ingredients to be successful.

2) TO YOU, what is the sure fire hit song on the CD? Why?

ROBERTO: The fans will decide but to me there are plenty of songs that have the capability of becoming hits if pushed right. "Toi et moi" "Tell me Why" "W2H" "Kif Kif" "Epi'm Pa bon" "Tanpri Souple" "Fem vole" "This is it" "Mwen Damou" are some of my favorites. We really worked hard on each and every song so i can't really predict that one hit.

3) Do we have more UPTEMPO or Compas love songs on the cd?

ROBERTO: We balanced it out. There are 5 up-tempos and the rest is a mixture or compas love and mid tempos.

4) Which type/style of song do you think are A LA MODE "En Vogue" right now in the HMI? Is it Compas Love, Mid tempo, or Uptempo Voye Monte?

ROBERTO: To me it all comes down to making good music! Some bands are better at fast jams others are better at slow jams. We have proved that we are capable of making hits both slow and fast and this is one of our forces, we will prove it again with W2H!

5) A KM Member accused TVICE of taking advantage of the situation in Haiti right now after the earthquake to build a cd or theme around it. What is your response to that?

ROBERTO: Since you asked me the question i'll be kind enough to answer it but normally such question wouldn't deserve an answer..This is the kind of mentality that is keeping us from moving forward as a nation! After jan 12th i think that it is necessary to come out with a meaningful title! We need to create jobs, attract tourism, attract investors, exploit our beaches, our natural resources etc...We need to open our arms and say to the world "Welcome to Haiti"

6) Will the whole cd be based around Haiti and the catastrophe that occurred?

ROBERTO: One song which is "Nou pap Lage" is dedicated to the Jan 12th Quake.

7) We were under the impression that the cd would be a NOEL/CECIBON and KALIKO productions dual affair. On the postcards, there are no signs of Kaliko on there. What's the deal?

ROBERTO: Yes Kaliko is still part of the deal. The Label is RYTHM & HARMONY but Kaliko is playing his role in the release as well.

Cool Why did you guys not take advantage of the huge crowds at COMPASFEST to release the new cd?

ROBERTO: We had one last minute song called "Pou Mwen Seul" that had to be included in the CD which delayed us a bit.

9) Is the International market still a target for TVICE, or are you guys still concentrating more on the usual Antilles, and whatever else comes your way?

ROBERTO: Yes very much! We are aiming to the highest level with this cd! Songs like "Toi et Moi" sung by Oli in French is a completely new flavor, W2H has and international appeal as well specially with Black Dada on there. There are a couple of other tracks that is mounted to fit the international scene as well..

We are projecting a T-Vice Zenith Show in October then La Reunion etc. We will be Heading back to New Caledonia On June 8th till the 14th then Belgium, Holland on June 26th and 27th. There are many other dates projected for the international market in 2010.

10) Any new songs from the HMI market has impressed you lately?

ROBERTO: I like Carimi and Mika's "Fanm sa a move" i Liked it since i first heard mika working on it at Vice2k studios. It was actually on our hard drive way before it was released and i always knew it would make an impact. I Really like Richie's Cap Haitien Je t'aime as well!

11) If you had to choose a cd from the tvice catalog that you would say WELCOME TO HAITI is closest to in terms of style, WHICH CD would it be?

ROBERTO: It's a mixture of Kite'm viv and Vinn Pran not with added flavors.

12) Has Reynaldo given up on his vocal adventures like he did in one of your previous cds? Why or why not?

ROBERTO: Lol you would have to ask him personally!

13) Is the HMI market wide open right now in terms of competition? The last time TVICE came out with KITEM VIV, you were clearly ahead of the pack. What has changed or NOT changed from 2/3 years ago in terms of where the different bands are on the HMI ladder?

ROBERTO: All the CDs came out around the same time 3 years ago so the fans and media could judge and pick which one was the best but now you only have Carimi and Richie as new releases. Let's wait till the end of the year when everyone drops then we can hear the fan's opinions on which did better etc..

14) Any final words?

ROBERTO: We've worked day and night on this project and i thank everyone that helped in one way or the other! The time is almost here for the album to be released and i could not be more excited! I can't wait to see which song will have the biggest impact and so on..I'm very confident and happy about the final product and hope that fans will enjoy it as much!

KM!

In your opinion, do you think he answered that question? and isn't that a fair question?

that would be an emphatic YES to answering the question. As to whether it was a fair question or not, I just don't believe it was necessary but that's the beauty of having differing opinions. Cool

Interesting interview!

I (kind of) was expecting for most of the album to symbolize its title, but I don’t see how an album of the likes would be successful to T-Vice. I am excited to hear it and I wish they would emit a single beforehand to tease us.

Keep up the good work T-Vice.

P.S. Every question deserves an answer, no matter how rash we think it is.
