WELL, SPEAKING OF ZENGLEN, WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST ERA IN ZEGLEN'S LIFE, HISTORY? IT IS GRACIA "TI BAT KO" DELVA ERA, GARY DIDIER PEREZ ERA, REGINALD-FREROT ERA, MANNO OBA OR KENNY-BENZ ERA? ALSO, WHEN I SAY ERA, I MEAN BOTH MUSICALLY ( BOTH LIVE AND STUDIO) AND IN TERMS OF POPULARTY! THEIR BEST ERA?
AND WHY DO YOU THINK SO?

the fidel album was huge back then but the best zenglen moment i would have to go with the 5 dwet album back in 2000 with gracia delva....that was HUGE _________________ K- ONPA

Other than the original Zenglen (studio), I didn't start paying attention to the band until shortly prior to the release of their 5 Etwals album. Listening to some of the old lives from the Gracia era, it goes without saying that it was their best one. Their live playing was just sick. _________________ Bat Chyen An Tan'n Met Li

Pou nou ka songe tout era yo, mwen al prete yon ti bio lan yon lot post pou nou...
feel free to add or make corrections...
1989 team
with manager CARL HENRY DESMOSNES
PATRICK MARTINEAU (maestro guitar/keyboard) GARY DIDIER PEREZ singer BRUTUS DERISSAINT guitar/singer DIDI keyboard FANFAN bass SANDRA DESMORNES on chorus
1991 team
they added FELDER ANTOINE on drums to follow ZIN foosteps, GARY DIDIER PEREZ left and replaced by DAVID, FANFAN left and replaced by ERNST on bass,
1992
they move from haiti to Miami minus the maestro PATRICK MARTINEAU who was victim from a coup d'etat by BRUTUS.
PATRICK was replaced by BLEK on the guitar
LOYD DOUYON is the new manager
Within few month the line up was as follow:
manager : dj BEN CONSTANT
FELDER moved from drums to keyboards , they added MICHEL BLAISE on drums, ERNST on bass, BRUTUS on guitar, DIDI on keyboard, NESTOR AZEROT (from MAGNUM on vocal) this female doctor MAGDALA L on chorus, DAVID on vocal.
WILSON (fr HANGOUT) replaced BLAISE on drums SHEENA ROCK was added to vocals
following year the polyvalent FELDER was moved to the bass, they added ZAGALO on gong, the great MARCELLUS (from FRERES DEJEAN) on guitar, T PIERRE on congas
They later added PRINCE ELLO on vocal, a female vocalist JUDITH, ( around that time GAZZMAN and his manager HARISON lol!! always showed up nan jazz la pou mandé neg yo banm fè yon ti cou pleeeeaase, they would let him sing <fidel>)
they also added ARLY LARIVIERRE on keyboards, and GRACIA DELVA (who left DJAKOUT in haiti) on vocal
1995
Maestro BRUTUS was kicked out of the band on stage in front of a full house at Kays club in Hollywood Florida when PRINCE ELLO made the announcement of the new line-up where he mentionned everybody's name but BRUTUS, he also stated that the new ZENGLEN maestro was ARLY LARIVIERE heheheyy coup d'état sou coup d'état
There was rumors that some money transactions was not properly handled by BRUTUS but the real main reason of that coup was because ARLY who can't stand to be in a band if he is not the maestro, manipulated the other members to revolt against the BRUTUS, he was also very vexed to the fact that BRUTUS invited the great MUSHI WIDMAIER to play keyboards on some tracks on the new album at the time,
LARIVIERE changed the name to ZENGLEN PLUS later DZINE
GRACIA DELVA was the only musicien who left the group in solidarity with BRUTUS
1996
manager BELLANDE GEORGES, ass mgr JOCELIN CHERY, maestro BRUTUS and GRACIA DELVA recruited a bunch of talented musicians to form what was going to be the most successful ZENGLEN team who created the ZENGLEN sound we have today
this team included NICKENSON PRUD'HOMME (from DJAKOUT MIZIK) on keyboards, legendary the late Ti POLIS NOZILE on guitar, JAMES NOZILE on gong, EDDY ti MAESTRO on congas, ERSNT came back to play the bass, they recruited
RITCHIE (from TAPAJ) for the drums, and two female background vocal, SHEILA and CLEO
1998
after a lousy unsuccessful tour in Haiti GRACIA got stuck down there , while the band was on pause RITCHIE and EDDY started touring in the antilles with SWEET MICKY where RITCHIE got a dose of what commercial konpa is about, he came back and partially took over the musical direction. As soon as GRACIA came back early 99, He took some of the SWEET MICKY repertoire and compose the very commercial song called <TEMPO> put them on a live CD , they made a big banggg
Ti POLIS left and replaced by RALPH MENELAS they fired CLEO and SHEILA
epi MIN ZENGLEN
that same year NICOLINA and 2 other horn players came on board
unfortunately
end of 2002 while there was a big rumor about GRACIA DELVA on the verge of joining DZINE he got deported back to PARIS where he came from a ZENGLEN tour mhmmm!!
then started the biggest nightmare of this band
MANNO OBAS made an unsuccessful attempt to fill the void, KENNY DESMANGLES declined the band invitation to replace GRACIA etcccc....
2003
they went to Haiti to hire REGINALD CANGE they ended up bringing FRERO along , the public reluctance to even give a chance to the new singers caused the band to struggle big time in the meantime manager BELLANDE financial situation got deteriorated after all the GRACIA expenses , the new singers expenses and sponsoring the non-profitable band. RITCHIE and NICKY threated to leave to form HANGOUT with PIPO and the DZINE crew, as a matter of fact RITCHIE was the one who came up with the name.
That's when ARCHILL ST HILAIRE a west palm beach promoter came on board took over the management and save the band.
end of 2006
ARCHILL ST HILAIRE, REGINALD CANGE, FRERO left because of misunderstanding with the leaders
KENNY DESMANGLES leave struggling 509 to join them
2007
NICKENSON PRUD'HOMME left and replaced by DANO (from haitian gospel group EVANGEL)
2008
DARBENZ come on the ship making his dream for the longest come true.
DANO left and replaced by JUDE SEVERE from montreal
2009
LAPORTE comes in on the guitar while maestro BRUTUS is taken care of the management _________________ BAT CHIEN AN, TANN MET LI! |

JVJ, mwen pa gen kob..
sel bagay mwen genyen ki gen vale se mizik Zenglen...
I must admit, era Frero ak Reginald la se li ke'm te pi renmen...
apre Ti_batka te tounen ayiti, mwen panse ke jazz la tap fe back...
men koulieya, jazz la vinn pran yon lot direction ak Dabenz and Kenny...
se youn lan bagay ke'm renmen ak Zenglen, jazz la adapte avek chanteu ke yo genyen...
HAPPY 20th, ZENGLEN... _________________ BAT CHIEN AN, TANN MET LI! |
