 |
|
We had the chance to speak to CARIMI's CARLO VIEUX about their 2009 carnival "ZANDOLIT", and what they hope to accomplish "SOU BETON AN". CHECK IT OUT.
__________________________________________________________
1) CARLO, How did you guys come up with the concept for ZANDOLIT, your 2009 carnival meringue?
CARLO VIEUX: Well first of all let me send my respect to all KM members and also thank them for their support. The Zandolit concept and dance came from Gregory Chery our sound engineer after he heard a fan from another group trying to insult us by calling all our float "Zandolit" during a carnival ( will not say which) because it was all green. So to him we say thank you lol.
2) Would you say that it's a continuation of a DANCE formula? AZIBIDOW being the first, and ZANDOLIT being the new one?
CARLO VIEUX: Well, we always try to come with new stuff, Azibidow last year and Zandolit this year. We will not speculate on what we have in store for next year, just wait and see.
3) If this carnival works again for CARIMI like AZIBIDOW did, can we expect a NEW DANCE next year?
CARLO VIEUX: Again we will not speculate on what we have in store for next year, although we already know what it will be. lol
4) What has the reaction been so far for the carnival?
CARLO VIEUX: So far, great man. A lot of air play and many radio DJs are calling me to congratulate us not only for a great carnival but for a great video as well. if people can stop me in the streets in Haiti and in the states to yell out ti moto, than we know we did something good.
Sponsors are also much more willing to sit down and talk to us. Not only because we proved ourselves and received a trophy from the mayor for "revelation of 2008" but because of the overwhelming buzz that are carnival is making in Haiti.
5) Do you believe that people want to see you fail this time around because some might believe that last year was a lucky break?
CARLO VIEUX: Well I believe that there are people who definitely do not like the fact that we are making a statement in our country's carnival. But I think that competition aside, it is a bit of a selfish attitude. It's our country first of all, we have represented our culture around the world and proven that we can handle ourselves in carnival, therefore we have every right to be a part of this event.
Let it be known that we will not stop doing what we do, for this is what we love and we have a commitment not only to our country and our culture but to our fans that have always supported us since 2001.
6) Can we expect anything different from CARIMI on CHAMP DE MARS this year, compared to last year?
CARLO VIEUX: Well it will be a more experienced CaRiMi for sure, an we will not be intimidated by no one.
Having said that I want to thank you Patrick and all of the members of KM even if not a CaRiMi fan cause as long as you support our music I am and will always be grateful.
Thank you
Carlo Vieux "Zandolit"

I couldn't stand the Zandolit carnaval when it was first released. Because it got so much airplay in Haiti, I found myself listenning to it.

That is some audacity on your part to copy part of what I said and turn it into your usual CRAP. Oh well, nothing new there.
Antouka, mbay kredi leu yo merite'. Ou menm nan, tan pou janm admet yon bagay, ou pito al bay pa'w la gaz.
