I know a lot of people are very skeptical that FRANCE can beat TOGO without their playmaker ZIDANE. (He is out because of two yellow cards).

I can tell you that many people also feel that Zidane not being in the lineup WILL HELP Thierry Henry's game. WHY?

ZIDANE slows down the pace of the French attack to calculate the next move...whereas HENRY's game excells when the tempo is FAST just like at ARSENAL. HENRY is all about ACCELERATION.

Here is another fact: A lot of people forget that FRANCE scored a VERY IMPORTANT win against PARAGUAY at the 98 world cup in the SECOUND ROUND (Knockout stage) when LAURENT BLANCE scored on a GOLDEN GOAL.

I am very optimistic that France CAN play very well without Zidane. RIBERY might become the field general, and PLEASE...The coach MUST ADD TREZEGUET in that lineup for us to have a REAL CHANCE.

My hopes are still high. All FRANCE needs is to WIN their game...hopefully by a margin of 2 goals or more (NOT NEEDED if ONE of the two teams in the Switzerland/S.Korea showdown LOSES)

Perfect Example Zhidane set him up lovely with 5 minutes left, put the ball in the keepers hand. Ronaldo would have nailed it. the yellow card by Zhidane is a sign of fustration.

Trezeguet would have scored that.

Even if they pulled Henry out on top of Zidane's absence, I think France should be a ble to beat Togo. By how many goals is what I'm not sure about. Togo has shown some potential but not enough to convince me they can pull an upset, not even a tie. This team may try as it may with all their off-the-pitch drama, they can't concentrate totally on football... too bad they could have been the surprise of the WC.

They chances are still up for grab. it all depends on how they come out for the game. TOGO will be playing hard for 90 minutes.

The coach should take out Wiltord, put Trezeguet on and Ribéry in place for Zidane.

As Pat said, Henry is used now (from Arsenal) to an accelerated game but Zidane is more a thinker, a tempo player (he would have been good in this Brazilian team, lol)

France can beat Togo easily without Zidane, the margin of two will not be a big problem (even if I heard that the togolese have been paid by their federation)

BUT, I still think that Togo can create the big surprise of this world cup.
