And you had to remind us how useless Haiti's school system is. Before we can blame anyone for Haiti's misery, blame the school system first, the absolute worst in the world.

A Haitian co-worker back in the days was bragging how a young man in his neighborhood was so intelligent. He said that that guy was so smart that he could recite so many Descartes passages. I said to him, "Patner, moun sout se eveneman. Anybody can learn to memorize anything, just a bible verse or a song." There is absolutely nothing smart about that."

Even from some of the interaction on the board, it's easy to pinpoint those who have been schooled in Haiti.

Hmmmm who?, I think you're generalizing in this instance. Yes, overall Haiti has one of the worst school system, but as always there are exceptions to the rule. I won't get into this debate as I'm not sure that is what the posted intended with his topic. Very Happy

(Principe d'Archimede)

I was never good at "par coeur", actually I was horrible at it. Thank God my school was one of the better ones..I'm not sure why I never forgot that damn thing....about the only thing I memorized that stick. Laughing

really funny topic let's see
I think these are the only ones i remember.

The funny thing about this is when you think back of some stupid stuff they had you memorize:

Here is one Boisrond Tonnerre

I left Haiti at about 8 or 9 years old. i'd completed Elementaire 2. When I came to the states, my teachers were amazed that I could write in cursive AND I knew my times table up to 12...Good ole Haitian memorization system Very Happy

Anyways, I still remember:

La geographie est le something something something...ok,, I forget this one...someone help me...Gosh I loved school in Haiti!

j'ai= j apostrophe a-i
tu as- A-S
Il a- Sans accent
nous avons- A-v-o-n-s
Vous avez- A-V-E-Z
Ils ont- O-n-t

I would cry if I was not premier...My aunt would send my report cards to my mom and dad in the states who would in turn send me the hottest ish from the states Cool In fact, I still remember my greatest competitor in school. His name was Arnold Princeton...If ur out there man, wut up! Very Happy Arrow
