With SAIMA getting ready to come back on the market strong, KOMPA MAGAZINE had a little chat with the three young ladies YVES, and twin siters SABINE and MARTINE Francoeur. Read the interview below + see a visual salute....RIGHT AFTER THE END OF THE INTERVIEW!
____________________________________________________________

SAIMA: First of all, we would like to say hi to you Pat and to all the KM readers out there and especially to our fans.

*KM: First and foremost, what have you guys been up to all these years?

SAIMA: Well, we stayed active in the music biz but mostly behind the scene. We worked on other artists’ albums and spent a lot of time working with our father on his music. We also took time to focus on our educational goals. Music is indeed our first love but we all also have an interest in the medical field. I (Sabine) picked up a degree in Diagnostic Ultrasound, Yves and Martine earned nursing degrees. Not to mention our most notable achievements over the past few years, our little ones. We all have children and I’m sure all the parents out there know how time consuming that can be.

*KM: For those of us that might not know you, please tell our readers who you are?

SAIMA: We are three sisters: Sabine, Yves and Martine Francoeur better known as SAIMA. We are the daughters of the legendary Assade Francoeur and it was he who introduced us to the hmi. Our first album was release by Fred Paul (Mini Records) with the hit single Pour Ceux Qui S’aiment. Also, we came out with a second album under the Kreyol Mizik label, produced by Jeff Wainwright. And now we’re back, ready to drop our latest and hottest album yet.

*KM: You ladies started so many years ago on the scene, you should have been so much further in your careers. What makes you think that RIGHT NOW is the right time to re-enter the market?

SAIMA: When we first came out, not only were we very young but we came out in a male dominated industry. Because of our youth and our gender, we did not get all of the exposure that our talent warranted. We had a nice sound and a lot of style but the industry was not ready for us yet. Now that we are more mature and have a lot of experience in the business, we are ready to make it happen.

*KM: Tell us a bit more about your upcoming cd. We want producers, we want tiltes...the whole works.

SAIMA: This up coming album has been the most challenging and definitely our best work by far. It will have some compas love, compas (son lari ya) and a couple of alternative songs. This album will also show our range and versatility. As far as producers, we are working with several of the best ones in the hmi today. We have Nickenson working on three songs, (one titled Kif Kif that we like to think of as a women’s anthem), Ralph Conde has worked one call Pa Ka Tan, and is putting his touch on a couple more… just to name a few.

*KM: You ladies used to be with JEFF WAINWRIGHT of kreyol music. Why not go back to him since you are coming back on the market?

SAIMA: Pat, as you know, we did not only work with Jeff. Our first Album was with Fred Paul (Mini Records) and we had the second one with Jeff. We are not committed to work with one person in particular. We enjoyed work with him but this time we are co-producing our own album.

*KM: Has the market changed and left SAIMA behind? Can SAIMA survive in this tough jungle known as the hmi right now in terms of female artists?

SAIMA: Well, we see it as the market finally just catching up with what SAIMA started to do years ago. Now we are back and are ready to jump into the thick of it. We are not really worried at all.

Very Very prefessional SAIMA...good job I see success in your future because it appears as if you ladies know what you're talking about...which is hard to find in the HMI...
