|
|
Here is the story behind the nicknames of some of the TABOU COMBO musicians.
*KAPI (Gong Player): KAPI's dad was a captain in the army, therefore KAPI for CAPITAINE (K)
*JEAN CLAUDE JEAN (COQ): "Jean Claude was known as a guy who was trying to court all the ladies in the neighborhood where he grew up. Therefore he got the nickname COQ as in COQ KATYER a.
*FANFAN "TI BOTTE": In the same neighborhood, there was already another guy named FANFAN. They actually called that guy FANFAN "GRO BOTTE", so to differentiate the two, THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD form OLD to young started calling YVES JOSEPH "FANFAN TI BOTTE".
Thanks to SHOUBOU for the history lesson.
