Pat this is why I keep saying they can't compare the old style guitarist with the new school style guitar style that came about in the mid 1970s with the FULL BAND format. If we really want to hear good guitar licks, we need a MINI-JAZZ session...which I will get my round table of CHAMPAGNA and Pipirite to select for a MINI-JAZZ session. |
Yes!!!
Kunta, you know how much I'm a big fan of Robert Martino and Eddy Wooley of these days.
I'm patiently waiting for that one... _________________ Yo di djaz sa frekan... Se pa fòt nou. Nou just RESAN! |

Example....The Robert Martino from TOP VICE/NU VICE is a BUM OF A GUITAR PLAYER compared to Robert when he used to be with LES DIFFICILES and THE GYPSIES.

Pat, I have a Top Vice bal from 1995 where Robert Martino was dropping some serious solos and grooves. He killed Embargo Lanmou with a solo. I'll post it on the board soon. I just have to transfer the bal from DAT to CD. M'garanti'w wap renmen'l. _________________ Bat Chyen An Tan'n Met Li

Neg,
I love Ronald Smith, but I would like to remove his name from the list. |

To those of you who miss the good old guitar days, you need to check out
Ti Claude Marcelin combine with Ti Polis in the Gypsies album "Avoca Baron" .
Remember that was a Gypsies that Pierrot Al Khal put togeter in Haiti while Martino and others were trying life in the U.S.That Gypsies only did that one album.
NOW - if I were to put them in order my five tops will be:
1-Dadou Pasket
2-Robert Martino
3-Eddy Wooley
4-Ti Claude Marcelin
5-Ti Polis
To me this is the elite of the fastest Haitian Guitarists.
Regarding Dadou I still say that in all my years working in this business,NO ALBUM CAN MATCH THE SPEED OF TABOU COMBO "THE MASTERS". _________________ Did you read your "Konpa Encyclopedia" today... |
