I thought that the AVERAGE PAY FOR GIGGERS IN THE HMI had increased over the last couple of years. Surely, it could NOT have remained the same exact thing that it was 5 years or more ago when I inquired about it then. I WAS WRONG!

After speaking to a few people in the know recently, I was told that the average HMI gigger gets

$100 per gig for a LOCAL gig. (Same town that he/she lives in)
$150/$200 per gig if they have to TRAVEL.

While that might be a good thing to have as EXTRA POCKET CHANGE if you have a steady job, I don't think that's good enough if that's the only source of revenue for a musician.

PS: I was told that CARIMI is the band that pays its giggers THE MOST money. I was also told that it also matters on how popular a group is, and how many members are in a band.

KM!

Woaw, that's nothing. 100 if local, 150-200 if traveling. One gig is not enough to cover a cell phone bill. This is crazy!

A lot of HMI musicians, mainly giggers, are living off their spouse's income (nothing wrong with that btw), being taken care of by girlfriends or women on the side, or they at some point of their career worked for Le Ministere des Affaires Inutiles et pour le Development Socio-Culturel des Brasseurs Professionels in Haiti. Heck, some of today's young bucks interned at the Fellowship Center for Hustlers Anonymous.
