JACQUES JOLICOEUR was for many many years, the right hand man of HMI producer/icon JOUBERT CHARLES. He was the manager at the very popular NOUVEL JENERASYON record store; and has been watching the HMI very closely from then until now. KM spoke to him today.
*KOMPA MAGAZINE: Can the HMI go back to the days of the NOUVEL JENERASYON Records label era when CDS were flying off the shelves, YOU used to own a record store...what do you see in terms of the FUTURE of RECORD STORES in the business?
JACQUES JOLICOEUR: "WOW. Plain and simple, it will never be the same anymore. As you are aware already; I don't know about other states, but in New york in terms of record shopS, they all have gone under.'
*KOMPA MAGAZINE: ALL? Ah mon cher. DEVOLCY is still there...FITO FAKTOR is there.
JACQUES JOLICOEUR: " It's very bad for them. Lack of productions from the bands, it'sjust not the same anymore. The major players are not there anymore in the HMI. I remember back then, we always used to blame the bootleggers, the poor african guy selling CDRS; but still CD's were still flying off the shelves. The bands were on point with a studio album; then followed by a live album; in addition we had good promoters throwing good parties. Promoters who are not getting into gang fights with artists. Those days are gone and will never come back anymore."

i remember those days when production was higher
and wer able to get that 3 for 30 deals
no more of that
but on avance avec le temps its itunes time now
where u dont have to buy a whole album !!!
