GONGISTS PA JWEN RESPE dares sa BIBOL (Angien gongs Djakout Mizik) di nou.

*KOMPA MAGAZINE: Eske ou pense ke GONGIST nan jaz HMI yo JWEN asse CREDI ou ATTENTION nan min fanatik ak media yo?

BIBOL: "Pat kesion la tre bel. Yon neg ki jwe gong man yon pa gen kredi /atansyon minm jan ak lot mizisyen yon djaz.

Merci."

Bibol voye deyo.
let's take a football team for example, does a center command the same respect as a quaterback ?
if you are great at what you do they will notice you (ie shoupit)
in most cases the face of a band usually is a singer, a pianist or a lead guitar
sometimes a conga player (shabba) or a drummer (Richie) to name a few examples.
when you are part of a team, it doesn't mean you will have the same recognition as other members, it's just the way it is, period.

Most don't get the fact that the drums, gong and bass are foundation of beat. The guitar, keyboard, horn and so on are just fillers. If music was a cake, the drums, bass and gong would be the cake without the icing.

Any musician that is not in front of the band needs to create his own shine. It's not easy but li ka fèt. Roro is not superstar like Shaba, but he definitely has found a way to shine in his Nu look with the back and forth shout outs to Alix Nozile and Chachou.

There's no doubt how vital the gongist role is to the kompa sound for a band and as such they are a part of the team.

BUT it is laughable and down right stupid that we are talking about the shine/attention of a gongist in a band. To me this is the cancer that exist in the HMI...tout musician gen foli superstar and want their moment of glory. Musicians need to do their job and get paid accordingly...bagay jere superstar ap kraze djazz because it becomes a selfish mentality and not one about the music.

The spotlight needs to be on the ones with the mic...tout res yo need to stay back and do your job....ONLY in the HMI smh this is even an issue Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
