WYCLEF JEAN TO PERFORM AT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY CONVENTION....TRAITOR OR OPPORTUNIST...
Wyclef Jean is taking a job that Willie Nelson and Randy Travis refused which is to perform at the 2012 republican party convention. The singer who was a supporter of Obama in 2008 made a 360 by showing admiration for Sarah Palin. Wyclef will perform at the convention this August 29 in Tampa Florida for the official nomination of Mitt Romney. This is a move by the republican party to attract black voters and they found their delivery boy in Wyclef Jean.
Not that the Democrats have done much for Haiti, but history prove that they are usually more friendly and generous to the Haitian people in their policy making decisions on many subjects especially Immigration than their republicans rivals on the other side of the hall.
In the past 32 years from Reagan to Bush 1 & 2, we have seen some terrible moments in Haiti especially cause by the terrible embargo signed by the republicans. Sometimes I wonder if the support we got from Obama after the devastating earthquake would have been the same if the republicans were at the white house.
Wyclef is free to choose who he will perform for or endorse in a presidential race, but for someone who was a candidate himself for the first seat of Haiti...that move to perform at the republican party convention really makes me go HUMMMMM.....
I wonder if Wyclef is really a traitor by dropping Obama to endorse Romney with all his heart or he is just showing once again that his is nothing but an opportunist seizing the occasion just to be part of something big regardless of how many people are affected or not by his action....This is big because not too long ago Clef was seen as a Haitian Ambassador. I wonder even more how he will be seen after August 29 by the African American people who are off course the main customers of Wyclef albums and live shows...and most of all how we Haitians will be seen after August 29,2012 since Clef is one of the top figures of the Haitian society.....
Please Clef...leave our flag behind...no need to take it to that convention stage...because this time you are on your own...UNCLE TOM....
To those who may not know much about the American History...you may take a look online to see what is an UNCLE TOM....
To those who may not know much about Haitian History......Let me just say that today is August 22...the day that Boukman did the famous Ceremonie du Bois Caiman...the anniversary of the revolt of the slaves...the revolt that will continue till Haiti's independence and later to freedom of slaves around the globe and an inspiration to black leaders all over the world. I can see Boukman/Dessalines/Toussaint/Petion/Capois Lamort/Pierrot/Guerrier in Obama, but not in Romney....
Auto goal is never a good thing...at least not in my book... _________________ Did you read your "Konpa Encyclopedia" today... |

Staff,
I read something similar, but isn't that concert a NON-PARTISAN gig?
The Got Your 6 is a nonpartisan organization that assists military personnel as they seek to reintegrate into civilian life.
I would stop supporting/buying anything Wyclef related if he ever supported the GOP, given their lack of support for immigrants, especially haitians!
I'm watching this closely. Although he is not pledging support to the GOP, people attending the concert might think so given that the fundraiser is happening within the Republican Convention. To me that's an ill-fated move right here!

I can see how this move can be misconstrued. _________________ A man who has taken possession of his own mind may take possession of anything else to which he is justly entitled_ Carnegie |

Staff, you can disagree all you want with the man for his flipfloping ways or trader if you will.
But i don't think it's fair to call the guy uncle Tom if he choose to change his political views.
People do that all the time.
Reagan was a Democrat before he turned to the Republican party.
What would you call him?
I don't think Wyclef Performing at the GOP convention will generate a single vote for Romney No way. _________________ Alon bel fraz sa. Devan byen deye malllll. |

Dalida...I did say that is his right....his human right...but it's my right as well to express my opinion....every vote count...my dear...Clef is an influential figure I said...He may not have the right to vote since he claims to be Haitian still that all good but he sure can turn head because he does have many white followers too.
The host of the event that he is performing at is John Mc Cain daughter herself...MC CAIN? and for Wyclef to show admiration for Sarah Palin in public....I said he can do whatever he wants just leave my Dessalines flag behind....because this race is not just about DEM and REP we all know that it's also about the son of a foreigner and a hard core white politician...KI KOTE'W KANPE...and GOUMEN POU SA'W KWE... _________________ Did you read your "Konpa Encyclopedia" today... |

The news about the anger in the Haitian society had already reach the Wyclef camp and they are now telling journalists who have contacted them that they had pull out of the event....
Now that's what I expect from Clef....
So Dalida since he pulled out...I take back my harsh words. However, I reserve the right to criticize anyone who made a major faux pas....especially when it can have affect my community. _________________ Did you read your "Konpa Encyclopedia" today... |
