Bernard H. Gousse, Designated as Next Prime Minister of Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - President Michel Martelly designated Bernard Honorat Gousse to be the next Prime Minister of Haiti. He communicated his decision to the presidents of both chambers at a final meeting Monday night.

The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Sorel Jacinthe, made the announcement.

Bernard Honorat Gousse was born and raised in Port-au-Prince. He graduated from the Haitian State University School of Law and Economic Science in 1981.

Upon graduating, Mr. Gousse traveled to France where he completed a degree in International Relations in 1983 and attained a Doctorate in Law from the University d'Aix-Marseille III in 1989.

Back in Haiti, Mr. Gousse has been practicing law since his admission to the Haitian Bar in 1991. He is one of the founding members of Pasquet, Gousse et Associés.

Bernard Gousse is also a professor and has taught Family Law, Contract Law, Tort Law and Private International Law at Quisqueya University School of Law where he also served eight years as its first Dean.

The Prime Minister-designate's practice focused primarily on international business transactions, private-public partnerships and Haitian regulatory law. He is a specialist in Communications law in Haiti and is instrumental in drafting the new Haitian telecommunications laws.

Gousse is also a member of the Presidential Commission on New Information and Communications Technologies.

The Prime Minister-designate has published several works, The Independence of the Judiciary for the Port-au-Prince Bar Association Journal of Law (1999), The Application of the Warsaw Convention in Haitian Courts for Le Nouvelliste (1991), Legal Aspects of Contracts in E-Commerce at the Summit of Haitian Internet in 2001 and Children's Rights and Citizenship Law

Quite frankly this move here dooms Micky with the US. Gousse is blacklisted by the US and to put this man up my God man!!! I see crash course between the US and Micky.

If Micky's advisors are telling to doom himself boy he better either firing them or expect he is going to end like Aristide and Preval, leaders with zero success!!!

Beside the other stuff, Gousse actually shoved at the time in 2005 the current US Ambassador which led to his visa being revoked and other charges to levied by several senators including those who were Republicans.

Brother, I have no idea and right now I am so confused by these people I don't even know if they have any idea what they are doing. This is very bad move and this strike two with the US and from what I hear the relationship is bad.

Bellerive is my choose given the parliament and for a moment I thought maybe this was a move to dissolve the parliament but from several sources I was told he does not have the support of the US at this moment or any government to even pull this move.

JCL, this move is not a good move and spits in the face of many people here and it could start the beginnings of a bad situation for this president.

Although the sensible choice would be Bellerive... Michel is afraid to alienate the people who in fact "voted for change"...

If he presents Bellerive, (which I think will be the next choice) he will lose popularity...but so does every president during his first 6 months in office. Now Bellerive still has a few things looming in his past as well. The whole Petro Caribe saga, ...he still has not been able to shed light on. But the majority of the parliament members didn't question his actions then...I doubt that the new-comers (with the exception of Steeven Benoit) will press him on these funds now.

I'm afraid we are looking at "kontinuite" each and every way we look at it, and Haitianone is right Gousse is not the US's best choice for the job...That incident with the Ambassador left the US with a hard-on for this guy Arrow

It has been reported that Gousse has been rejected by 16 out of 30 members of parliament through a preliminary vote before his actual date to appear before the senate on tuesday,

http://www.radiotelevisioncaraibes.com/nouvelles/haiti/16-senateurs-sur-30-rejettent-par-anticipation-la-candidature-de.html

End Result...Bellerive is in (with all his deception, and unanswered questions in regards to the Petro Caribe fund, and contracts to Dominican Developers.

President Martelly another few weeks wasted... I know you are thinking now, the road to presidency was nothing compared to the task at hand! Again my advice to you : DROP YOUR ADVISORS!
