Haitians get dual citizenship approval
2011-05-09 08:54:29 | (0 Comments)

Haiti, CMC – The Senate has approved an amendment to the Constitution allowing for Haitians to hold dual citizenship.

The amendment was passed late on Sunday and means that Haitians living overseas, particularly in the United States, will now have more rights in their homeland.

The law had originally banned Haitians from holding dual citizenship.

During the last presidential election, singer Wyclef Jean had to undergo various legal challenges in order for his name to be placed on the ballot paper.

Officials said that the new law will allow those Haitians in the diaspora to run for lower levels of office and own land.

The new law will take effect after it is published in The Monitor, a government publication"

IT'S EVEN BETTER BABY...NOT DUAL BUT MULTIPLE NATIONALITY.

Syro

Be very careful, the media is saying there is dual citizenship but after reading closely the amendments they don't make any sense we shall see how they enforce it.

I got a feeling the ambiguity here will allow the Haiitan government to enforce it like a joke making these amendments useless.
