Good post TI MANMI.
I think if you were to take a survey, most people would NOT want their significant others to be part of the HMI because of the many other "issues" that it brings on the table.

From a male point of view, it depends. First of all, I'm assuming by significant other, you mean someone who has a good head on her shoulder, loyal, trust worthy. Someone who understands the concepts of "Family" and "Married Life" and fidelity.
If this is the case, yes, but with some sorts of limitation: The relationship has to come first! Family comes first.
Otherwise (Meaning, if she is indecisive, easily swayed by the thoughts of others, lacks understanding of what a relationship is about, if she can't understand the boundaries of a relation between a friend, associate, etc then my answer is HELL NO! There's bound to be drama (Secrecy, Lies, Infedility, Groupie Syndrome Disease, STDs, etc)
And if she insists, then I'll let her do what she wants and end the relationship.
Let's face it: The HMI is an addictive drug! VIP spots at parties, Trips to Florida and a bunch of nice places, Unlimited and mostly inappropriate access to the top HMI stars, etc. Many people get lost in the HMI and will spend a lifetime finding their way out!! If someone is unable to maintain a required level of professionalism, then that person will lose him/herself easily and destroy whatever relationship he or she is in!! _________________ "I think I have managed to pay respect to some of my childhood heroes but my most important work is always ahead of me."

I would respect my significant other's decision if they want to be persistent and join in the HMI. For all those that flat out said, NO, maybe there are some trust issues. I would have to trust that my significant other will honor our relationship and above all, remain professional. I see how the men in this industry treat women, especially the musicians, I definitely feel bad for their wives, girlfriends, fiances and baby momma's they leave at home. If they only knew what their men was REALLY doing before they get on stage or after the show is over especially after a few drinks!
As a female, I would allow him to join the HMI with strict stipulations because I definitely know these women are ruthless and have no shame pushing up on a married man or someone who is taken. It takes 2 to tango and the blame is not always one-sided! |
