|
|
The "Foodie Fundraiser for Haiti" raised $27,000 last night. The money will be split evenly among U. of M. Global Institute, Project Medishare, and EcoWorks International. We played to a packed house of a melting pot of people, all there for a great cause. By the end of the evening, we had the Haitian people teaching the non Haitians how to dance to our music and many of the Haitian people working at the restaurant came through and were very thankful for the music. Two of the women had lost 9 and 11 people respectively in the quake, and they gave us a big hug and said it was the first time they have been able to smile and enjoy themselves since the disaster. Moments like that make you really feel that you are doing the right thing. So far the benefits we have played have collected almost $100,000 for the relief effort and we have many more exciting events coming up. We will keep you posted. Look for us on Channel 7 news in Miami and a special interview with Ralph Cassagnol on BBC World Radio, also aired this morning on RFI throughout Haiti. |
