The visiting band Kassav surprised the hell out of everyone when they performed FIRST at the beach party on Sunday instead of being the closing act.
Well another lesson form Kassav SE PA LE'W JWE A...MEN SE JAN'W JWE A...KI KONTE...Whatever the reason for that decision....it happened...and they did their show just like if they were the closing act.
However the place was getting dark and when they announced BC as the second band instead of Kreyol La...the musicians of Kreyol La then felt that the world was falling on them because most people would leave by the time they perform since the park had very poor lighting. When it was time for Kreyol La they basically pulled out as people were really leaving after the BC performance...Ti Djo said that having the chance to perform at a show with Kassav meant a lot to the band and they were ready for a super and well prepared show...and they were not ready to deliver it on a dark stage...
Well guest who take over the stage and perform in the dark place...until 1 AM....
No one else but Sweet Micky....ki lague yon super bal instead of a festival presentation to the delight of those who had the guts to stay and party regardless on how and/or when they will get home...
What is your opinion on this situation...?
Good that they pulled out of the park ? or...they should have stayed and perform (as advertised on the tickets sold) regardless of the poor and unsecured conditions...like Micky did?

WAS MICKY ADVERTISED TO PLAY THAT DAY 
OU PAKONN SA NEG SA YO VLE. ONE MINUTE THEY'RE FIGHTING TO PLAY FIRST, THEN THEY TELL YOU THEY WANT TO PLAY LAST.
I WONDER WHEN WERE THEY ADVERTISED TO PLAY INITIALLY.... BUT IF THEY FELT THAT THE CONDITIONS WERE NOT FAVORABLE FOR THEM TO PERFORM, THEN HEY  YO GRANMOUN. |

TOO BAD FOR KREYOL LA, I'M PRETTY SURE THEY WANTED TO DO SOMETHING GREAT, BUT I ALSO THINK THAT THE STAGE MANAGERS SHOULD HAVE MANAGE THE TIME FOR EACH BAND TO PERFOM....
KASSAV WON AGAIN.

Playing in the dark on a sunday night at the beach at this time around is a bit risky. Yeah, there are a lot of improvement security wise in Haiti but people have to still be careful. If it was around december, i would blame Kreyol La for pulling out cause most people are in vacation and can sleep over the night. But at his time around, it's a bit harder to stay at 1am at teh beach and drive back in the total drak to get back home and go to work the next day.

I didn't go to Kassav's second performance of their Haiti tour at Plage Publique.
But when I heard that Kassav performed first, I was surprised and many others were as well. Kassav is way bigger than Kreyol La, Sweet Micky and Barikad Crew all together on every aspect.
You know how Haitian bands have that mentality and attitude: I'm the bigger and most popular band, so I have to play last, and you... you open the show and play first.
Well Kassav, who is way bigger, gave them a very important lesson by playing before with no big deal. It was not a matter of playing last for them. That's something Haitian bands should learn.
Btw aren't Kreyol La and Barikad Crew best buddies? What happened?
