I don't think this answer can be unbiased, since it's based solely on taste and the generation you identify with.

Every generation thinks theirs had the best melodies;

Every American in their late 40s and up think the 80s had the best music. And I think compared to the crap being released now, the 90s were golden.

So each person's generation wins... lol
