Kevin Gaippe aka BelKod young but talented...

In a world that moves at an alarming pace one should take a quick moment to notice this young man playing. He has yet to touch the surface of his tremendous talent. He is Kevin Gaippe, a millennia baby with the pseudo-BelKod of the mighty Kompa band Klass.

Kevin was born from Haitian parents living in Paris, France. He is a Parisian geographically by birth, but a true Haitian at heart and by blood. BelKod began his musical career in 2008 after being taught playing the guitar by his father. Little by little he acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to join a musical group.

In that same year, he joined his first konpa group "Expression" with a few friends in Paris. He experimented shortly with "Bel Relax". Then he spent a year playing with "Influence", another Kompa band. Kevin traveled to Miami, Florida where he met other Haitian artists in order to capitalize on his guitar skills as well as enriching his kompa Direk knowledge.

In 2009, Kevin played a few gigs with "MVP of Billy the kid" and "SUAV Mizik". While in the US, he then went to Boston where he was a member of a group called "Nuz" until he met Richie and became a full-time member of the group “Klass" in 2012.
Belkod has an innate ability to percolate and learn the rhythm of Kompa Direk. He also learned from masters like Ronald Smith of System band and band mate and mentor El Pozo of Klass.

Kevin went from being a total novice to a knowledgeable guitar player in a short period of time. He accomplished in a short time what many may take a while to achieve. Kevin is able to fine-tune his skill level, confidence level and stage presence so that we as fans and particularly the ladies could enjoy those rhythm notes from the first Klass album and certainly to the current one: “Ranje Chitaw”.
We are anxiously waiting to see what this young talented man has to reveal on the current Klass CD, which is sure to penetrate our listening ears and sandblast the competition one more time on April 1, 2016.

BelKod is by no means complaisant. He is a true student of our Kompa Direk and we certainly are glad that he will forever treasure this music and continue to showcase it as an important part of his natural heritage and ritual for years to come.

Kevin aka BelKod, I thank you for being part of the best Kompa band of this era and wish you many blessings to see you among the very best in the business.

Remember one thing: “Maturity is not given its lived day by day" so groove on because your very best is yet to be flourished.
