If I were in your shoes I would probably keep my mouth shut since you are just an invitee hired for a short stint for the night....As a non member....you should have left this alone and whether he acted as a B or not, there was no need for you to chime in : "Les linges sales se lavent en famille" dit-on. Without a doubt his ego got too inflated now, though there are some fairly hefty egos involved as well.
