FABRICE ROUZIER is a kanaval veteran with Mizik Mizik, having been through one of the most well known POLEMIKS (Rivalries) in the history of the festivities against Sweet Micky. We thought he was well qualified to ask him the question below.

*KOMPA MAGAZINE: Your thought on this whole KREYOL LA "Champion" kanaval controversy...in which the 2 COMPAS kanaval BIG DOGS Djakout and T-Vice seem to totally disagree that K.L could win that honor over them. You are a kanaval veteran...what gives?
FABRICE ROUZIER: "Kreyol La deserves it. Their song was probably the second most popular song after Roody Rude Boy's. They marketed the hell out of that track too. Djakout T-Vice and about 15 other bands, unfortunately have a "guaranteed" ticket for carnaval every year. When you are in a position like that, why would you make an effort to work on a solid track, release it early enough so that people know it?
The key to success is not only to have the only BIG sound system and be the noisiest band out there. Plus, the guys are not getting any younger. "Madan Papa" and Roody can give any of the 17 "chosen ones" a run for their money any year. If and when carnaval re-becomes a fair and valid contest, their will be no secured room for so called "tenors" and in my book there will be room for progress."
