KOMPA MAGAZINE caught up with YVES ABEL to ask him the real deal in terms of why things did not work out with ZENGLEN. Here are some of the things that he told me.

*KOMPA MAGAZINE: Did ZENGLEN kick you out, or did you leave the group?
YVES ABEL: "I QUIT. I LEFT THE GROUP because the band was not booked enough. SI BAND NAN PA PROGRAMME...it doesn't make sense."
In terms of "issues"; we asked him if he had any problems or issues with the singers FRERO and WID. This is what he told me.
YVES ABEL: "NO...NOT AT ALL. Mwen pa gin problem avec chanteurs yo non mwen minm. I can't worry about rumors on the street."
We asked him WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM WITH ZENGLEN besides the BOOKING issue. This is what he told me.
YVES ABEL: "I can only speak for MYSELF and NOT for the band. In terms of the booking issue and other stuff, you have to ask the MANAGER and BAND OWNER. They'll tell you why the band is not booked."
We asked him if he was FOR or AGAINST the hiatus overseas that ZENGLEN took...to wait for WID to get his traveling papers in order. Here is what he told me.
YVES ABEL: "I was FOR it. WE WERE ALL FOR THE BAND TO WAIT FOR WID until he got his papers in order, in terms of the band traveling overseas. I was FOR IT. That's why I STAYED and did not leave. He has talent and he deserves a chance to make it in this business. WE ALL SUFFERED...WE STAYED TOGETHER FOR HIM.....we all wanted to. YES it did hurt the CD in terms of selling the band/album overseas."
We asked him what he thinks ZENGLEN should do...CONTINUE PUSHING THIS CURRENT CD...or GO BACK TO THE STUDIO FOR A NEW CD. This is what he told us.
YVES ABEL: "RIGHT NOW...THEY HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE STUDIO. They need a NEW CD....unless they do a massive promotion...major work needs to be done in order for the band to go on with THIS CURRENT CD."
We asked if BRUTUS or RORO were to call him and ask him to return to the band...what would he say. Here is what he told me.
YVES ABEL: "NO...I would NOT be interested. This band is a good band, so they will always have musicians waiting wanting to be part of it. I already moved on with other projects."
