BERNARD: "Now let's consider the Haitian market itself: If you want to make money, you need to play a style of music liked by those with money. What style do you think I'm talking about, in Haiti? Digital. In Miami or New York, a band can be considered "djaz pèp" and still be VERY SUCCESSFUL, economically speaking. That's because people in the lower social classes still have enough disposable income to support you. That simply isn't the case in Haiti. Si'w pa jwe pou boujoi, ou peri. Of course you're going think "What about Djakout?" Just think of how long it took them to be a power player in the HMI. And would they really have gotten there if they didn't create a huge buzz in the states? I don't believe so." _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
